Continental Tyre Group has announced a further addition to its 2009/2010 Winter Tyre Guide, to cover new regulations affecting light commercial vehicles, heavy trucks and coaches entering Sweden from December 2009.

The new regulations from the Swedish government stipulate that foreign cars and light trucks entering the country must be equipped with winter tyres with a tread depth of at least three millimetres between December 1 and March 31, whilst wintry road conditions prevail.

The regulations for heavy commercial vehicles travelling in Sweden have also changed. The transport authority has set a minimum tread depth of five millimetres for vehicles weighing over 3.5 tonnes during the winter season from December 1 to March 31.

This regulation also applies in winter conditions to foreign trucks and buses, but not to trailers. ??The Continental Winter Tyre guide highlights the different tyre requirements UK and Irish truck and coach operators can expect to encounter when they run their vehicles in Europe this winter and is available free to all as a download from the Continental website at www.conti-online.co.uk/truck
